Planning / Quartz recovery guide

What to have ready before requesting recovery.

The journey, vehicle and access details that help a driver understand the job before you book.

Vehicle loaded onto a recovery truck at a garage

Start with the journey

Decide where the vehicle needs to be collected and where it needs to go. If the pickup is inside a car park, on private land or at a business premises, include the information needed to identify the entrance and reach the vehicle.

Check that the destination can receive the vehicle. A garage’s opening hours, access arrangements or key-drop process may matter, particularly for a delivery outside its usual hours.

  • Pickup location and the correct entrance
  • Destination and receiving arrangements
  • Any time or access restrictions

Describe the vehicle, not just the problem

A driver needs more than ‘it won’t start’ to assess some recoveries. Explain the vehicle type and its condition, including anything that could affect moving or loading it.

Mention missing keys, damage, locked wheels or difficulty steering. If you do not know whether something works, say so rather than guessing. Accurate details help the driver judge equipment needs and suitability.

  • Vehicle details
  • Whether it rolls, steers and brakes, if known
  • Damage, missing keys or other loading concerns

Think about access and people

Height limits, narrow entrances, restricted parking and difficult ground can affect the job. Share known restrictions before committing to a quote.

Do not assume people can travel with the recovery vehicle. Discuss the number of passengers and any requirements with the driver in advance, and make separate arrangements where needed.

Update the driver if anything changes

If the location, destination or vehicle condition changes after requesting a quote, tell the driver through the platform. Changes may affect the equipment, price or suitability of the job.

Quartz connects customers with independent drivers. Availability varies by location and the recovery required, so a request does not guarantee a driver or a particular arrival time.
